South End Buttery

This past weekend, while trekking through the South End, we stopped at the South End Buttery to check it out. I have been there before but not all of my companions had been there before. It is a nice, neighborhood bakery, located within a largely residential section. They have a number of tables outside on the sidewalk and nearly all of the tables were full. It is a popular place and the quality of their baked goods is a primary reason for drawing in their crowds.

In this trip, we just sampled a few items, including a ham and cheese croissant, cinnamon bun and sugar cookie. All three of these items were excellent, very flavorful, quite fresh and absolutely delicious. Their prices are not cheap but their products are high quality.

Besides their baked goods, they do have a selection of sandwiches and breakfasts. On a previous visit, I had their egg sandwich which consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheddar on a buttermilk biscuit. It was a large and tasty sandwich on a delightfully flaky and buttery biscuit. One of the best such sandwiches I have ever had, especially due to the biscuit.

The South End Buttery is definitely worth a visit.
