2007 Albet i Noya Xarel.lo Classic

Here is another Spanish still wine using one of the usual primary Cava grapes, the Xarel.lo. The Albet i Noya winery is located in the Penedes region and is certified organic.

The 2007 Albet i Noya Xarel.lo Classic ($10.99) is made from 100% Xarel.lo and sees no oak. It has a very pale yellow color with an enticing smell of citrus and spice. On the palate, there are flavors of lemon, peach and restrained spice. It is crisp and refreshing with some minerality. This is a wine that seems a bit more exotic than the usual white wines. I think it pairs well with seafood, and did go very well with the seared scallops I had for dinner. At this price, it is a very good value and well worth buying.

Why not try something different?
